DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS

These are groups that are committed to living out Central's values – Worship, Prayer, Ministry, Reproduction, and Community.

These groups also value the Sunday Celebration of worship and preaching at Central.

WHY SMALL GROUPS?

• It is a place of building Community more intimately with the body of Christ.

• It is a place where truth is explored and shared through interactive discussion.

• It is a place designed to have a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere to enhance discipleship training.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN A DISCIPLESHIP GROUP?

Our desire is to see people become authentic Christian disciples.  This does not happen overnight, and it doesn’t usually happen in a big group of people.

When Jesus went about making disciples he did it in a small group.  He went out and picked a few people who had the motivation and desire to hang out with him.  That is what we are trying to do with the small groups here at Central:  provide each person the opportunity and the setting to passionately follow Jesus.

Our corporate services on Sunday are very important to our life as a church, but a Discipleship Group is more interactive, providing room for discussion, asking questions, sharing, and caring for each other.

• It is within our Discipleship Groups that people begin to feel they are a part of our family and connected to one another.

• It is within our Discipleship Groups that we believe to see the results and victories of transformed lives.

• It is within our Discipleship Groups that people have the opportunity to discover, practice, and develop both the practical and spiritual gifts that they have been given.

• It is within our Discipleship Groups that leadership qualities are demonstrated, sometimes for the very first time.  This opens up more opportunities for ministry within Central.

• It is within our Discipleship Groups that new and meaningful outreaches in our community are hoped of being started.

OUR CORE VALUES

There are seven values that are essential to our Discipleship Groups.  We may not cover each of them every week, but through the course of our time together, all of these values are expressed as we grow together as authentic disciples.

• Worship:  turning our full attention to the Lord in the freedom of the Spirit.

• The Word:  Allowing sound doctrine to transform our minds and behavior.

• Prayer:  Seeking God’s direction and intervention in our lives.

• Ministry: Meeting spiritual and physical needs both in and outside the church.

• Reproduction:  Equipping the Saints for the work of the ministry and inviting new people to join us.

• Community:  Building relationships with each other and becoming a family.

• Stewardship:  Freely and sacrificially giving of our time, energy, and finances to build the Kingdom of God.
